Happy Sunday and welcome to our new website! Hopefully everyone enjoyed a great weekend, despite the amazing amount of rain we got on Saturday especially. Made for wet soccer games 🙂 We have a busy week coming up so there is lots of information below. Please take some time to read through it carefully.
Information To Share
New HD Stafford Middle Website Launched: We are excited to present the new and improved HD Stafford Middle School website. It will continue to be the central communication place for our entire school community however this new design will make it easier to navigate while aligning with our family of schools and the overall Langley School District much more efficiently. Be sure to check it out by clicking here and continue to come back as we add more and more features.
Remembrance Day Assembly: This Tuesday November 10th, HD Stafford Middle will be holding an assembly to honour Remembrance Day. Parents are welcome to join us at 10:30 for this important event. Students are encouraged to bring donations for poppies with funds going towards BC/Yukon Legion.
Cafeteria Is Closing: The last day the HD Stafford cafeteria will be open is Friday, November 27th. Over the years we have had a great relationship with Adrian and his company however a mutual decision was made to explore other options regarding breakfast/lunch programs. As a result, students will need to bring their own lunches as there will be no option to purchase. Those students who are part of the lunch program will continue their normal process.
Simonds and Blacklock Neighbourhood Meeting – The City of Langley Council and staff look forward to hosting an informative and interactive meeting for residents of the Simonds and Blacklock neighbourhoods on Tuesday, November 24th from 6:00-8:00pm in the small gym of H.D. Stafford Middle School, 20441 Grade Crescent. Join us to learn more about what is happening in your community and to share thoughts and ideas moving forward. No RSVP is required. For additional information, please contact email@example.com.
Feedback On District Calendar 2016 – 2019: The Trustees approve calendars three years at a time. As part of the process, they elicit feedback from community, parents and staff. If individuals want to provide direct feedback the email address is firstname.lastname@example.org Here is the direct link to the calendar page.
Information About School Status During Inclement Weather: Snow closures and power outages are an annual occurrence in Langley School District. So where do you go to get information about the status of schools during periods of inclement weather? If you are able to access the internet via computer or smartphone, current information about Langley schools can be accessed at www.sd35.bc.ca. Alerts regarding school status will appear as a banner at the top of the District website. Clicking on ‘More Details’ will provide more information. School status information may also be found under News & Events’, ‘School Status Alerts’. We will also post updates to Twitter and Facebook. You can also access the information on the HD Stafford Middle School Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.
If you don’t have internet connectivity, but your phone is working, call a relative or friend in an area that has not been affected by the storm and ask them to check the district website for you. Current information is also recorded on the Langley School District’s Information Hotline at 604-532-1453. (Do not hang up if your call is not connected right away). Local radio stations are also informed of school status in Langley. Tune in to CKWX 1130 AM, CKNW 980 AM, Country Radio 107.1 FM or CBC 690 AM for updates.
Please note that Langley District schools are all considered ‘open’ until a decision to close is required. Decisions on school closures are usually made by 6:30am. As always, it is a parent’s decision whether to send their child to school based on safety and individual circumstances. If you feel it is unsafe for you or your child to travel to or attend an open school for any reason, please keep your child home and report an absence to the school.
Note From City of Langley: Parents are reminded to only park/stop in designated areas when dropping off/picking up their children. The no parking/no stopping zones around the school exist to keep our children safe and help ensure they are visible to motorists. Bylaw officers do enforce the area as resources permit. If you are parked illegally and receive a ticket, there is a dispute process to follow on the back of the ticket if you disagree with the ticket but please be respectful of the officers if you happen to encounter them. Thank you.
