Week Of February 22nd

February 21, 2016

Was so nice to see a bit of sunshine this weekend. We have a very busy week coming up with the debut of our play, The BFG, among other things. Please be sure to read through the information carefully.

Information To Share

Report Card Prep Day: Monday is a ½ day for students to allow for report card prep in the afternoon. We will have Day 1 Block 5-8 in the morning.

BFG: The story follows a young orphaned girl named Sophie. Late one night, Sophie sneaks out of bed only to see a giant who takes her away to Giant Country! Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant quickly become friends only to discover they must save the children of the world from hungry giants. They are going to need all the help they can get to stop the nightly raids! Join Sophie in this adventure of dream-catching, whizzpopping, and scrumdiddlyumptious snozzcumbers!

Family friendly and all ages welcome!

5.00 – Student; 10.00 – Adult; 20.00 – Family

Tuesday February 23 at 6:30 pm is pay what you can

Regular shows run Wednesday to Friday!

Michael Bortolotto Presentation: In honour of Pink Shirt Day, we will have Michael Bortolotto, present to our students in three separate assemblies. Michael Bortolotto is a successful professional speaker who lives with Cerebral Palsy. For the past twenty-two years people of all ages have been inspired, motivated, educated, and entertained by his “CAN DO” attitude. By using real life experiences and examples, he encourages and persuades his audience to rethink, what they may believe is impossible to realizing anything is possible by being determined, persistent, and focus on the end result. You can see a preview by checking out this youtube of Michael speaking. His message is a powerful one that resonates with kids and adults alike.

Pink Shirt Day: This Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day across Canada. And while we will have our assembly the day before with Michael Bortolotto, we are encouraging staff and students to wear pink in honour of celebrating KINDNESS. As a school, we’d like to move away from the notion of “anti-bullying day” (for many reasons) towards something more positive. Next year we will really kick this off as a school community.

Formal Friday: Formal Friday is coming to HD Stafford this Friday, February 26th. Time to dig out your spiffy clothes and dress your best to impress! Have some fun and collect colour house points for your team.

Community Announcements: Often HD Stafford gets valuable information from community organizations in our surrounding area. These will be shared on the following link. This week we have the following:

Gary Anaka Parent Workshop
