HDSMS Main

Another great weekend here on the West Coast. Hopefully you were able to make it out to the Youth Homelessness Initiative event at LEC … was a great time for everyone involved.  Here is what’s going on This Week At HDSMS: September 26th

Information To Share:

Curriculum Implementation Professional Development Day: Just a reminder that this Friday is a professional development day. Most of the HD Stafford Middle staff will be at a session by Jack Berckemeyer sharing strategies on the power of teaming. There is no school for students on Friday September 30th.

September 29th Is Orange Shirt Day (Every Child Matters): We are so fortunate to work and learn on the unceded territory of the Katzie, Matsqui and Kwantlen first nations. September 29, 2016 is Orange Shirt Day in the Langley School District. This is to honour the notion that Every Child Matters as we continue to work through the process of Truth and Reconciliation with the Aboriginal Community. Please click here for the original story behind Orange Shirt Day.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Auditions: We are excited to be presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream as our major production for this year. Auditions will be held this week in the theatre … Monday (Grade 8), Tuesday (Grade 7), Wednesday 9Grade 6). This is open to ALL STUDENTS!

Choir and Band: We will be offering Band and Choir at lunch through the music teacher from Langley Secondary, Mrs. Thorpe. If your child is interested in joining, please attend based on the days/times below.

Athletics/Intramural Schedule: We have a lot going on with regards to athletics and intramurals so please click here each week to see the latest schedule.

PAC Update: Thank you to everyone who showed up at our first PAC meeting of the year. What a wonderful turnout. Please continue to come, it’s is proven that parent involvement increases student success.

We’d also like to thank everyone for their generous donations. At last count we were at $2,300. Together with other funds we have, each division will be receiving $300 to be used for field trips, equipment, presenters etc.

Throughout the year we will be raising funds to help teachers and staff with other expenses. Sporting equipment, computer equipment, spirit wear, Grade 8 camp and much more.

The first of our fundraising endeavors will be one many of us need…coffee! Stayed tune for more information in the coming weeks.

The Hawks Nest, run by two dedicated PAC parents, is open every Friday at lunch and has lots of yummy treats for sale.

Hope you have a great week!
