Happy Easter … hope everyone was able to have a little time with their family and friends. We have a very busy week coming up so please take a moment to read through all the information below:
Information To Share:
Community Garden and Green Club: We are starting construction of our community garden in the next two weeks. We are looking for help to construct, deals on plants and dirt, and maintenance throughout the year. The following dates are work parties to build the planters. Please talk to the students about the dates and being a part of the green team.
- Saturday April 29th: Wood Delivery and Planning.
- Sunday April 30th: We have our first work party to build a few of the planters from 9:30am – 3:00pm
- Monday May 1st: We have youth the Langley city youth council and the mayor of Langley coming to fill the planters with dirt and possibly plant some of the plants from 3:30 – 6:30
After-School Explorations Program: HD Stafford, in partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, is excited to offer a brand new ‘Explorations’ program open to all students, taking place on Tuesdays from 3-5pm and running from April 25th – May 30th. This is a free, after school program where students will participate in fun-filled activities, and learn more about a particular topic of interest. Participants will spend the first hour of the group taking part in activities, games, discussions and enjoying a snack. The second half of the group will be spent in their Exploration group learning about a specific subject in an interactive and supportive environment. Students can choose to take part in one of the following Explorations groups: baking, arts and crafts, drama or musical theatre. New Emergency Preparedness Language: Over the past couple weeks, staff and the PAC have been introduced to the new provincial language regarding emergency situations. If you click here you can see the presentation given to staff. We will practice each of the new drills during Emergency Preparedness Week May 8th – 12th. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact administration.
Class Placement For Next Year: As we begin the process of planning for next school year, we always want to give parents a voice in class placements. As you can imagine, the education professionals put a lot of thought into classroom composition. If you would like to pass along any information regarding this, please email the principal (firstname.lastname@example.org) directly.
EdCamp35: Our fourth annual EdCamp35 is coming up on April 29th. It is being hosted by HD Stafford Middle School and is a great “unconference.” It brings together all stakeholders for a great day of learning and connecting. It is free and includes lunch. Register at www.edcamp35.com

Red Cross Babysitting Course: So you want to be a babysitter? Or, your parents want you to take this course so they feel confident leaving you at home alone? Babysitting with First Aid Hero emphasizes learning through real life scenarios. information covered includes: Exploring the business of babysitting, creating safe environments, safely caring for ages 0-12, and first aid skills. Cost is $60.00 plus GST. Click here to register.
Athletics Schedule: We have a lot going on with regards to athletics so please click here each week to see the latest schedule.
PAC Update: Spring Fundraiser – Please keep an eye out for our Spring Fundraiser with DFS Canada. The catalogue will be going home with students next week. We are offering online and paper order forms.
The PAC earns 40% of all sales, so please take a look at the catalogue when your student(s) bring it home. More info to come on deadlines and deliveries.
