Happy Sunday Skyhawks Parents & Guardians!

As we begin another busy week here in Skyhawk Nation – we are taking time this week (and throughout the year) to honour our residential school “warriors” who are still battling through the trauma and we remember the children who did not return home from these schools.  It is hard to imagine both as an educator and a parent that schools could be anything but safe and caring places.  However, we know that this was not the case for many indigenous people in this country.  As we grow and learn the truth behind their stories it is our hope that reconciliation can be a daily practice in our school.

THE WEEK AHEAD AT HD STAFFORD

Calling All Grade 7 Boys Volleyball Players!

All Grade 7 boys who want to play volleyball this year are invited to join the Grade 8 boys team practices: Monday & Wednesday  3-5pm this week!

BREAKFAST PROGRAM START DATE  & VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

HD Stafford will be restarting it’s Breakfast Program beginning October 10th! Thank you to the volunteers that have already come forward – you are amazing!  If you are interested in a volunteer position at our school, please email our Community School Coordinator at Ksandher@sd35.bc.ca. The breakfast program runs out of the community room on Mondays through Fridays, for our kids  from 8:00-8:30am. Let us know if you would like to volunteer! Volunteers will be helping to make light breakfast meals for some of our kiddos!

Our first fundraiser is coming! The Community Values Coupon book is available to buy now until Sept 29th! Lots of coupons have been added, supporting businesses from Aldergrove, Langley and Cloverdale.

Thank you to parents who helped out with the Meet the Teacher evening. It was a great way to build home and school connections with the SkyHawk Community.

Coming in October… Krispy Kreme Donuts and volunteers needed for the Fall Fair! Keep your eye out for dates coming soon.

Coming in November… Growing Smiles Pointsettias, Purdy’s Chocolates, and Christmas Photo fundraiser

PAC GENERAL INFORMATION:

Our PAC works to help create effective partnerships between the school and parent community. Building the triangle of support between parent, school, and child will create powerful learning opportunities and ensure our children’s success.

Each and every parent or guardian is a member of our PAC. We encourage you to join us for the monthly meetings to participate in the building of PAC community and create learning opportunities for your child.
