The final Hawk Squawk of 2017! It has been a great week at HD Stafford Middle! On behalf of all of us at HDSMS, we want to wish the entire Skyhawks Nation a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Our gift to you is another edition of Hawk Squawk December 22nd.
Final Spirit Assembly: As we headed into the Winter, we had our traditional Christmas assembly with our students to celebrate a great four moths. The students had been competing in fun winter-themed games all week however at the assembly students got to the see the staff give the challenges a try. It was awesome. And then, of course, the day ended with a special present for students … a fun video starring staff! Be on the look out for the video being shared tonight or tomorrow no our social media accounts!
12 Days Of Kindness: This year Ms Ashcroft, along with Ms Passaglia, held her 12 Days of Kindness with her class. In the spirit of Christmas, students came up with ways they could spread kindness around the school and in the world around them. They created an awesome craft afternoon for our ACCESS students and put personalized random notes of positivity on student lockers to lift their spirits. It is such a great feeling to receive these acts of kindness and an even better feeling to give them.
Bob Ross Day: The students in our Grade 8 Red House were treated to a special guest when “Bob Ross” came to HD Stafford Middle to introduce their new art project. The students then had the opportunity to work on canvas paintings based on the iconic artist and TV star! Ms Welsh, Ms Warkman and Mr. Ostafiew set a great and fun environment for the creativity to flow! The final results were awesome!
Intramural Spirit Games: This week for intramurals, house teams competed in a variety of winter and Christmas themed games. They had a snow eating (ice cream) competition and snowball fight (marshmallow toss) to name a few. The kids had such a good time competing and earning house points for teams! And then it all culminated in our staff competing in these same challenges in front of the school at the final assembly. What an awesome time!
A Christmas Concussion: The students in Mrs Smith’s room have been working very hard over the past few months on a play called A Christmas Concussion. It tells the story of how the elves and reindeer respond to Santa falling off the roof and getting a head injury. It was so entertaining, complete with great acting and wonderful singing. Thanks for the students and Mrs Smith for their hard work…the final product was amazing!
