A week to go and things are buzzing along here at HD Stafford Middle School. It was a great week with lots to celebrate! Here is the Hawk Squawk: December 15th. Please share with your family and friends.
North Poles Got Talent: This week we had our annual talent show Christmas concert, North Pole’s Got Talent. And it was one of the best one’s yet! The variety of the acts was INCREDIBLE! We had students singing Christmas songs, dancing original choreographies and playing the piano. We even had a 200 year old Syrian harp played by one of our students, an original rap performance and East Indian dancing. It really was a great celebration of the passions and strengths of our students.
ACCESS Christmas Party: Every year, our ACCESS students have the opportunity to attend the District Low Incident Christmas Party! This brings together all the amazing students in our programs together for some festive fun with each other and their teachers/SEAs. There is great food, entertainment and of course, a visit of Santa himself. Our kids had such a great time as they get ready for the Christmas break!
Early Man Models: The students in Ms Cooper’s grade 78 class have been learning about early man in the Social Studies classes. and as a culmination of that learning, they share their knowledge by creating different models. There were cakes and videos and even a life-size cave! The students had a great time with their creations and solidified their learning.
Grade Seven Quantum Physics: The students in Mr Wood’s Science class have been learning about some basic physics but on Friday, they had a special guest come in who works in the field. Mr. Wood brought in his Dad to talk about Quantum Physics with the students and they were mesmerized. He shared some interesting ideas wit them and brought in a few tools of the trade. Great to connect our learning in schools with career opportunities available to our students.
Newest Skyhawk Enters The World: While our Hawk Squawk primarily focuses on celebrating our students, we always want to take time to celebrate milestones in the lives of our staff. This past week, our Fine Arts teacher, Mrs Yzerman gave birth to a beautiful healthy boy. Peter Cohen Yzerman was born Tuesday December 12th weighing 6 lbs 15 oz. Both mom and baby are resting and doing well. Congratulations Mrs Yzerman.
